I was traveling recently so I missed the shocking announcement of the death of Bill Moyers! I have always been a huge fan of Bill Moyers’ work. If you don’t know Bill’s body of work, then you have a huge amount of watching and reading to discover. Bill Moyers was an American hero, a television staple, and a journalistic icon. I strongly suggest that you read Bill Moyers incredible obituary and the contributions that he made to our government, television broadcasting, publishing, and the world! Bill Moyers was one of my favorite people on television and in print. I was very fortunate to have met Mr. Moyers. I asked Bill if he would write a quote for my book on Parkinson’s Disease. I sent him 3 chapters, and he requested that I send him the entire book. I think that it was a few days later that he sent me an unexpected supportive and extensive summary of my writing. Touchingly, Mr. Moyers mentioned Joseph Campbell and the Hero’s Journey as it applied to my book. If you haven’t seen this series, do yourself a favor and soak up some of this intellectual magic.
I am forever grateful that this incredibly nice man was so kind and generous to have taken the time and effort to write so much more than just a quote.
His books, news stories, PBS shows and documentaries, were instrumental in my youth right through adulthood! I remember his documentary on chemical exposure in the 1990’s. Polar bears in the Artic were found to have Teflon in their blood. Mr. Moyers got his blood checked and said that Teflon was found in his blood, too.
As a person with Parkinson’s disease, I appreciated his use of science and news with thoroughness, balance and detailed reporting. His books on the human brain were revolutionary information that brought forth science to the masses.
Nobody covered a story like Bill Moyers! I will miss his calm and charming drawl. Few journalists have left the world with a body of work like Bill Moyers!

Wonderful tribute, Karl. He was a thoughtful, powerful, courageous voice for good … as are you 🦋
Anne, thank you for those kind words! I really appreciate you saying that!
